I love you
Hey girl, how are you? HAD to get back to you re: skipping / repeats / slow-to-post issues at K-n-J’s. After tediously moving bookmarks to Safari I am having NONE of aforementioned issues! It’s definitely Foxfire!
I love you
Wanted to let you know the problems with Foxfire seem to happen when scrolling. If I click-jump down there isn’t much of a problem but scrolling down makes it “stutter” & repeat. When it’s REALLY bad it helps to just reboot. It’s not a software problem, my laptop’s brand new & works perfectly otherwise. It’s either a Foxfire problem or a FOD issue, proba... more >

On a seperate note, HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY!!!

I'm so glad to have a husband and connected and disconnect things when my fingers retuse to work properly...
Anyway, HAPPY CHRISTMAS!
Since my kids are home for "winter" break (we know it's Christmas break, and some of us aren't even offended when it's called that even though we don't celebrate it -- Christmas that is).
I just went back and checked, and at last post was actually posted! And it wasn't nearly as short as I figured (although less fraught with with typos as I had figured...), a large quantity was Marsha bitching as she is wont to do....
Anyway, the party yesterday was good. Friends of ours who live near one of use to go to temple -- and who are both good friends of mine from graduate school -- hosted the party, and we consequently got to see a lot of people that we hadn't seen since we left that terrible. That in itself was neat, and they had one of the most fun grab bag "steal" sessions than I've ever been a part of. Everybody who wanted to participate brought a $10 gift, and we each had a choice to open a new gift or steal one that had already been opened by someone else. Of course, Hershey's kisses wrapped in Christmas colors were on sale for $.99 a bag the day after Christmas, when Kevin went shopping, so Kevin bought six bags, and one of our provided gifts was a box of all six bags :-). That package was shown as an early, and it yet went around and around the group! I was glad that my son did not end up with it, because we don't need that much chocolate in the house! I doubt with a mug that was passed around a bit too. Levi ended up with jelly beans (sour Jelly Bellies, he corrects me), and Noah got a stuffed snake and stuffed turtle. The book _Beedle the Bard_ by JK Rowling went around a few times. That was one that Noah really wanted, too. I did a couple of times. Kevin didn't play. He figures that it just makes more things for him to have to bring home...
Thursday we have a New Year's party with one of the couples that actually went out to Naperville area. They live in Northbrook which is even farther away than we are. But we are all looking forward to it anyway.
Now, aren't you happy that I have my microphone working again now? I get to go into my usual rambling mode....
I do hope that the economy improves. One of the biggest costumers of my husbands firm is the American car industry. If Kevin's company goes under, then I'm not sure what we'll do. I know a lot of people are hurting; I just don't want US to hurt more than we currently do. Oh well. If wishes were fishes, then poor men would ride... or something like that...
I hope everybody out there is doing okay! Jazzy, I hope you're getting over the surgery. And I hope that he laid out from it has not been a burden for your holidays! It does sound like things are going fairly well for Lisa. I do hope that both Silly and Mary had a wonderful Christmas, and Ron too. At least Rod has kept us somewhat appraised. And I don't blame Susan for not liking flying. Personally, I hate it.
Okay enough rambling. Do everybody have a great new year!

Ken, what a dissapointment the party must hace been! And I imagine it was doubly so fr Karen; this must have been a rough season for her anyway this yeaar!
Where is silly? I'm not TOO worried because of the season, but it'll be good to see her back, just to put the mind at ease. Mary, too.
I can't write much now; neither mny Windows Virtual machine NOR my Macintosh wull deign to recognize my microphone, so I only type as long as my fingers hold uut, and THEN I correct some of te multitude of typo's! THEN I have to troubltshoot my microphone problems again!
HAPPY NEW YEAR! And as always, we hope the coming year improves on the current/past ones.

Hi, anyone remember me? No, I have not dropped off the face of the earth! And yes, I am still doing okay. I think that I currently need to use Dragon NaturallySpeaking for voice recognition -- which only works in Windows -- and copy everything back to Macintosh to actually post. Sigh. I've all but given up on using the Macintosh voice recognition, and given the difficulty I packed with my computer, using Windows or Internet access scares the shit out of me! Anyway, I hope everyone's had a really good Thanksgiving. I spent the last couple days just catching up on reading, and it seems that I've missed a lot!
Mary, I agree that your daughter may seem to hate you and wish you weren't doing what you're doing. But I have a sister-in-law was bipolar. She's well over 50 (54?), but she can't seem to get herself together. She has 7 cats, two dogs, a worthless roommate (he doesn't want anyone to know that he longed there; he doesn't want his phone number known by anyone; whenever police are around for any reason, he hides [does this sound scary to you?]; he refuses to pay anything for his upkeep, rent, or mortgage; he has some horrible sickness that keeps him from eating properly or moving properly; it goes on and on... but Patrick's all whole situation in and out of himself). I need to get off my sidetrack! My sister-in-law's father (Dale) continues to bail her out. Most of her problems at this point are financial. Any time she gets a reasonable job (she's extremely smart, and well educated), she manages get herself fired in very short order. She's been doing technical support for AT&T cell phones for years now at minimum or slightly over minimum wage. Her mother, Neva, keeps encouraging Dale to make her, Karen, live within in her means. Karen can't seem to do that, and Dale cannot seem to let her flounder. It's hard. It's very hard! Kevin and I even want to give her money -- we even "leant" her mortgage money one month. That was years ago, and we know better. I love my sister-in-law very much. I love my in-laws too; but I know my in-laws will not always be around. Dale is almost 83, and he has outlived all of his ancestors by 20 years or more. He had a major heart attack just before I met Kevin in 85. Neva is right. Dell has to cut her off. It sounds nasty and insensitive. But Karen has to learn how to live within her means. If she falls a few times when she does still have family who cares for her, it'll make it a lot easier for her when she fails on her own. I know it's hard Mary. It's even hard for me, as a sister-in-law, see the pain that Karen must experience in the meanwhile. But I've seen her in both super productive great times and in her pitts.
On a happier note -- yes, I am very familiar with Arlo Guthrie and the Alice's Restaurant Massacree. My parents were both folk music buffs in a previous life. I grew up with Woody Guthrie (Arlo's dad), Arlo Guthrie, Pete Seeger, Joan Redpath, and a whole slew. Between that and classical music types to the house at higher volumes than the worst teenager with tight their rock 'n roll at the time, I had a very interesting background. I am going to check out the sites that have been mentioned on here (I haven't yet had a chance...). One of my dad's favorite radio stations has always been WFMT ("Chicago's Fine Arts Station") which is almost entirely classical music, but on Saturday nights they have what's called "The Midnight Special" -- a combination of folk and humor which is great! My parents can still get "The Midnight Special" (for a fee or a donation or something) on the computer, and they really enjoy that. Anyway, what it boils down to, is no one not left in a fog about Arlo Guthrie. I like him a lot. But my taste in music is eclectic at best. When a friend of mine in graduate school was visiting, he went through my box of albums (yes, they were vinyl at the time). A selected one from Sweet Honey in the Rock, and while I was playing he commented that it sounded very Zulu-like. "No," I told him, "I do have a Zulu too if you want that." And I did. But that was just my nonclassical box. I always said I wouldn't replace all of my music with CDs; I had, after all, already purchased them. I have since bought new CD is for a lot of the music that I have on vinyl. But some of it hadn't been able to replace. Apparently, I'm the ONLY one who liked it, so it hasn't been produced on CD. And I'm too cheap to find a lot of them.
Well, this is fairly long and I haven't even gotten in all the bitching that I had in mind to do (much to your relief, I'm sure :-). I am going to try and write more regularly, but I've been saying that for months.... My computer continues to offer me lots and lots and lots of difficulty, but I probably ought to stop using that as an excuse and just deal with it :-(. I hate computers. If there weren't some useful (for wasting time if nothing else...), I wouldn't have one :-)
