Cops Taze Students
It was your typical “Take Your Daughters and Sons To Work Day” at the Franklin Correctional Institution where Sgt. Walter Schmidt wanted to show all of the kids visiting an idea of what all the parents did. ‘
Obviously being a responsible adult, Schmidt took out his stun gun and tased the children with 50,000 volts of electricity. ‘ The children whose ages and names were not made available, reportedly yelped in pain, fell to the ground and grabbed their arms where a mark was made. ‘ A few were even taken to a local hospital.
DOC spokeswoman Jo Ellyn Rackleff said in an email likely defending her job, “We believe that a number of children may have received a shock.”
Of course Shmidt, the consumate professional asked the parents permission before he tased the kids but three days after the April 24th incident Warden Duffie Harrison wrote Schmidt that his “retention would be detrimental to the best interests of the state” because he engaged in “innapropriate conduct while demonstrating weapons.. to several children during a special event at the institution.”
He also stated the obvious that Schmidt would be terminated after 14 years with the department when Harrison wrote effectively, “You tased at least two kids to demonstrate the EID, which is in direct violation of procedure and placed the department at risk of litigation.”
The only difference was that unlike the typical Taser which is fired at a distance and delivers a shock via dart-tipped wires and the electronic immobilation device or EID as it's called by fans delivers a dosage 450 times stronger than a household outlet. ‘ It works to disable your nueral and muscular systems and many deaths have been attributed to the device, so we can all be happy that no children were harmed.
