St. Louis Declares State of Emergency For a Tornado – Wait, No, Just a Court Decision

You know what would have fixed this? A few hundred more cops.

Governor Jay Nixon of Missouri has declared a state of emergency in Missouri for a tornado war spontaneous volcano wait nope it ‘s for a court decision that hasn ‘t even happened yet.

The decision of the Ferguson grand jury on whether to indict Officer Darren Wilson for killing Michael Brown is expected this week, and Missouri Governor Jay Nixon is acting in advance to quell as-yet theoretical protester violence. According to CNN, the governor has also mobilized the Missouri National Guard.

“In the days immediately following Michael Brown ‘s death, peaceful protests were marred by senseless acts of violence and destruction,” the governor said last week.

“That ugliness was not representative of Missouri, and it cannot be repeated.”

Fair enough, but a lot of the senseless acts of destruction were perpetrated by the police themselves, who many observers believe wildly overreacted to initially peaceful protests. This is like if Ferguson was on forest fire watch and the governor ‘s solution was to send them a bunch of matches.
