66 Surfers Manage To Make Breaking A World Record Look Very Stupid

Over the weekend 66 surfers broke the Guinness World Record for the most number of people catching a wave a single surfboard. The record breakers gathered in Huntington Beach, CA to ride a 42-ft long surfboard for 12 full seconds. This beats the previous record holders, 47 surfers in Queensland, Australia rode a wave for 10 seconds on a smaller board.
I gotta say, though, these 66 surfers and the 5,000+ onlookers somehow make something that sounds so cool look really, I dunno, stupid. I was imagining a bunch of sexy extras from Blue Crush dancing and grinding on a giant surfboard and catching perfect, crisp waves. This sort of looks like 66 dads trying out something they built in their garage for the first time. And I know the weather isn ‘t something they can control, but like what bleak weather for a record to be broken in. And last but not least, surfers, you guys are supposed to be the coolest cats there are. You can ‘t just catch a wave then cheer like they called your order number at a barbecue joint.
Well, whatever, I guess you can do whatever you want if you ‘re breaking world records. Check out this video that is pretty cool but could definitely be cooler.
