New Banksy Art Revealed In Refugee Camp Depicts Migrant Steve Jobs

Steve Jobs was the son of a migrant from Syria and Banksy ‘s latest work depicts the late Apple founder as a migrant himself. Located in the ‘Jungle” refugee camp in Calais, amidst makeshift tents and other graffiti, the mural is a clear message to display migration positively and with hope amidst some of the most dismal conditions in the world. The mural was revealed today accompanied by this statementdirectly from Banksy:

We ‘re often led to believe migration is a drain on the country ‘s resources but Steve Jobs was the son of a Syrian migrant. Apple is the world ‘s most profitable company, it pays over $7bn ( ‘4.6bn) a year in taxes – and it only exists because they allowed in a young man from Homs.

Since Banksy makes public statements about as often as he makes just a nice lovely water color painting like a normal artist FOR ONCE, it ‘s clear the migrant and refugee situation in Calais is important to him.

Another interesting, weird revelation from the camp today is that Banksy has shipped over pieces of his last big work, Dismaland, to use as temporary housing in the camp. Dismaland, of course, was Banksy ‘s late summer SPOOF, billed as a ‘sinister twist on Disneyland” and now its housing displaced migrants and refugees.

While the Steve Jobs piece is getting most of the attention, Banksy also painted a few other pieces around the camp that had a similiar message.
