Barack Obama Uses The N-word On ‘WTF With Marc Maron,’ Making Him The 44th President To Do So
President Obama was on Marc Maron ‘s WTF podcast over the weekend and had a chat with the comedian host. Like no previous guests on WTF, the studio was swept by the secret service and a sniper was stationed on the roof of Maron ‘s home in Highland Park, CA. The two men chatted about the Affordable Care Act, the NRA ‘s unfortunately strong hold on Congress, and most notably about race relations in this country.
Criticized for often avoiding the subject or only lightly touching on it, Obama spoke candidly with Maron about how recent events have shown how much we are not in a post-racial America.
Racism, we are not cured of it. And it ‘s not just a matter of not being polite to say ‘n**ger ‘ in public. That ‘s not the measure of whether racism still exists or not. It ‘s not just a matter of overt discrimination. Societies don ‘t, overnight, completely erase everything that happened 200 or 300 years prior.
‘ Barack Obama, WTF Podcast
That ‘s right, President Barack Obama said the N-word on air, publicly, to a probable audience of hundreds of thousands of people. This makes him the first president to say the N-word, ever. Ha, just joking, that is absolutely not true. If anything, he is joining a long line of presidents to use that word; he is just most likely one of the first to use it in a justifiable context.
Arguably, Presidents Washington through McKinley used it in everyday conversation and in formal arenas as well. Lincoln definitely used the N-word, despite what your grammar school history textbooks want you to think. Starting with Roosevelt #1 till probably Bush #1, we can be pretty sure the presidents were all slinging the N-word. If they weren ‘t explicitly referring to people of color, they were using it to describe animals they killed on safari or in some sort of backwards, still super racist compliment, like ‘He ‘s the good kind of n**ger.” Maybe Jimmy Carter didn ‘t use it around people, but he probably whispered it to himself on a dare (a dare he dared himself.)
As Kanye West so eloquently pointed out in 2005, George W Bush ‘doesn ‘t care about black people,” which most definitely prompted Bush to respond, ‘I do care about n**gers!” Bill Clinton also undoubtedly said the N-word, but it probably went over very well in an all black room and then someone said about him, ‘That n**ger really can play the saxophone!”
So, basically, what I ‘m saying is that everyone needs to chill out about Obama dropping the N-bomb because he did so appropriately and is in no way the first president to say it.
Give it a listen here.
