Hey guys,

Welcome back! So excited for your party. Farra and I will be there at 7:30. Let me know if we can bring anything? Wine? Dessert? A jar of some honey?

Looking forward to it!

Hey Everett,

Hugh and I are so happy you two can make it. It ‘s so nice of you two to offer to bring something, but we ‘ll have it all taken care of. See you Friday.

Also we are definitely going to have to talk Handmaid ‘s Tale.

Hey Nick,

That sounds great. It ‘s so generous of you guys to provide everything. Hosts with the most. Please do let us know if we can help with something, even if it ‘s a last minute thing. I also should just double check- does that mean you ‘ll have honey there?

Hi Everett,

Great to know, we will keep it in mind, but hopefully we ‘ll have everything taken care of. Re: Honey- I think we have a little honey here in the kitchen in case you need it.

Hey Nick,

Awesome. And sorry to be a pain, but can you double check that you have honey and can you check how much?

We have one of those squeezy bears and it ‘s about a third full.

Hey Nick,

Hmmmmmm. I ‘m wondering if that ‘s going to be enough for all the guests. I ‘d be happy to bring a jar of honey if it helps.

Hey Everett,

Thanks for the concern, but I don ‘t think a lot of people are going to be eating honey. And actually, I think Hugh would be a little hurt if you brought your own food. Don ‘t worry- we ‘ll take good care of ya 🙂

Hey Nick,

It ‘s not ‘my own food. ‘ It ‘s honey. I would never bring my own food to your dinner party. It ‘s more of a nectar. I ‘d be happy to talk to Hugh myself. I ‘d be happy to get there an hour early and set up a little honey station for everyone. And I ‘d be happy to give Hugh all the credit. It ‘s a party, so I just want to make sure there ‘s enough honey for everyone.

Hi Everett,

Thanks for the offer, but I think I have to put my foot down here and say that we don ‘t want a ‘honey station ‘ and I think it might be best to drop the honey issue altogether. It was really thoughtful of you, but we have everything planned out already (we ‘re doing a Japanese tapas theme) and unfortunately it doesn ‘t involve having a station with a jar of honey. Maybe next time.

Hey Nick,

I think you got the wrong idea about the honey station. It ‘s not going to just be a jar of honey. It would be a few different jars for honey flights. I ‘d be happy to go find some nice chopsticks for honey dippies or Japanese honey spoons to serve it in. I can find some theme-appropriate wet towels so people can wipe the sticky, sweet honey off their faces. I ‘m just gonna need little table and an area wide enough for people to gather around so everyone has easy access to the honey station.

Maybe check with Hugh and we can get started with the plan? Can ‘t wait.

Hey, I said no honey station please. I ‘ll see you Friday.

Nick,

Hey maybe I ‘m misreading your last email, but it seemed like I upset or offended you. I ‘m sorry if I did and I ‘m sorry if I ‘m reading into it too much. I just figured everyone would want honey, mainly because it ‘s a sweet nectar made from bees and flowers. It tastes great and makes me happy to eat it. I don ‘t have to set up a honey station if you don ‘t want.

I understand how much thought and work you and Hugh have put into setting up this party, and I really appreciate it. That is the only reason why I ‘m trying to make sure that you have enough honey there. I would feel terrible if everything is going smoothly until one of the guests says ‘hey, is there any honey? ‘ only to be told no. I want to save you from the embarrassment of listening to everyone ‘s excuses for leaving early, when it ‘s really because there ‘s no honey.

Why don ‘t I bring a couple of jars in my bag and if nobody wants honey, I can leave them in there the whole night. But this way, when people start saying they ‘re honey hungie, you ‘ll be prepared.

Again, sorry if I offended you.

Everett. I ‘ve never heard anyone say they ‘re ‘Honey hungie ‘ before. Nobody leaves a party because there ‘s not enough honey there. But fine. Since you seem to be so insistent on bringing honey, bring it in your bag, but just keep it in your bag. Okay?

Nick,

Awesome, so glad we could figure out a solution there. This is gonna be a great 4th of July!
