A Robbery Suspect Looks Like David Schwimmer And Friends Fans Love It

Police in Blackpool, England are on the hunt for a shoplifter who allegedly ran off with a case of beer, and seemingly something more valuable: the distinctive facial features of Friends actor David Schwimmer.
The case of mistaken identity began earlier this week the British police department took to Facebook for help catching the thief:

That guy really does look like Ross Gellar, the whiny archaeologist we hoped would end up with Rachel even though we all knew she could do much better. Of course, Friends references started filling up the comments:

The likeness is so freakily spot on that Schwimmer took to Twitter this morning to defend his reputation with “security footage ‘ of his own:
Officers, I swear it wasn't me.
As you can see, I was in New York.
To the hardworking Blackpool Police, good luck with the investigation.#itwasntme pic.twitter.com/EDFF9dZoYR‘ schwim (@DavidSchwimmer) October 24, 2018
Nice try with the classic Shaggy defense, Schwimmer, but “it wasn ‘t me ‘ isn ‘t going to cut it here. That ‘s about as believable as Ross saying he was “on a break. ‘ Luckily, if this does go to trial, he ‘ll have some great character witnesses who are always there for him, when the rain starts to fall, because he ‘s there for them too.
