Today I’m beginning my goal of fake-reading an imaginary book each month. Being well-read is important and it behooves all of us to read the classics and be aware of important new works being produced by contemporary authors. However, c’mon. I ain’t got the time. So each month, I’m going to invent a novel and then review it. Won’t you join me on this non-journey or faux-learning?
Since the beginning of time humans have loved our primate ancestors. We have monkeys as pets, we stare at chimpanzees in the zoo, and we watch movies with gorillas in them. Right now, the number one movie at the box-office for the second week in a row, and grossing almost $200 million dollars, is Rise of the Planet of the Apes. Not a coincidence that it ‘s main character is a chimpanzee. So far, 2011 has brought with it some movies that weren ‘t as lucky at the box office. These movies cost millions of dollars to make, yet the studios didn ‘t even make their money back. Well, here ‘s how they can! Re-release the films with a Planet of the Apes twist!
It seems Hasbro has convinced Universal Studios to sign a six year deal that will produce four movies based on a series of Hasbro children’s games, such as Monopoly and Stretch Armstrong, but excluding G.I. Joe and Transformers. Basically every toy that cannot be made into a movie. Of course, a bad idea has never stopped Hollywood before and “Battleship: The Movie” is set to release in 2012. So we thought we’d give Universal a head start, free of charge, with some of our own ideas for your upcoming movies.
